At Live Edge Lumber Company, we turn raw slabs of live edge wood into one of a kind furniture built around the natural character of the tree itself. Every piece starts with wood shaped by nature, bold grain lines, flowing edges, knots, cracks, and imperfections that can’t be replicated. Our artisans work hands on with each slab, shaping and finishing the wood with care and blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design elements like epoxy and LED lighting to create pieces that feel both organic and distinctive.

Every project is fully customizable. Clients work directly with our team to design a piece that fits their space, style, and vision. From overall layout and dimensions to finishes, epoxy colors, and lighting effects, each detail is thoughtfully considered. Whether the goal is something clean and understated or bold and expressive, every piece is built from scratch and designed to be as unique as the wood it comes from.

Alongside our custom furniture, we also work with other furniture makers, builders, and hobbyists who are looking for quality live edge material for their own projects. We offer raw live edge slabs and can assist with resizing existing pieces or flattening slabs using our CNC equipment. This allows makers to start with properly prepared material while still creating and finishing their own work. Our Story

The vision for Live Edge Lumber Co. began in Tallahassee, Florida, with woodworker Michael Sarron. In June of 2000, while assisting a friend and fellow woodworker and art enthusiast, Gei Nam Lim, Michael’s new hobby quickly grew into a deep appreciation for the beauty, character, and individuality of hardwoods and fine furniture making.

That appreciation evolved into a larger idea rooted in sustainability. After witnessing the abundance of fallen trees across South Florida following powerful summer storms, the concept of salvaging and repurposing this lumber took shape. What many saw as destruction became an opportunity to give new life to wood that would otherwise be lost. With an abundance of trees in need of rescue, Live Edge Lumber Co. was born.

Today, Live Edge Lumber Co. is dedicated to creating affordable, thoughtfully designed pieces ranging from custom furniture and abstract art to commercial installations. We believe good design should be accessible, without sacrificing quality or craftsmanship.
